Economic Justification for MPLS

Shannon,

The ecomomic utility of technology like MPLS will vary from a carrier to another carrier depending on what kind of infrastructure they already  have. You may have better luck in getting meaningful (planned and actual) ROI data if you ask this questions on nanog list since some of the carriers who  have deployed technology may have done this economic modeling before deployment, and may be willing to share some of this info with you. Good luck!

cheers,

Subject: Economic Justification for MPLS

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I have been doing some research looking for the economic justification for MPLS?  Does anyone have a paper, website, etc that explains why carriers would implement MPLS (other than technical)?
I understand its technical merits, but I am really interested in its economic and/or other rationale for MPLS.

Thanks in advance,
