GMPLS features applicable to MPLS

Because the developers implementing these features for MPLS switches are 
not necessarily going to do it in the GMPLS way.  They may very well 
review the available documents and conclude "unnumbered links are only 
specified for GMPLS and not MPLS, so we're free to pursue a proprietary 
solution for our MPLS products."
