Title: RE: info: cr-ldp discussion to take place on the mpls list

During the MPLS WG meeting in Yokohama the argument made that no customer is asking for CR-LDP. The argument was basically made by a router vendor and few carriers, and it was clear it is only applicable in the packet space.

In the context of GMPLS, there hasn't been much deployment of anything. The survey that has been conducted only reflects vendor preference and is not indicative of future carrier deployment of RSVP-TE or CR-LDP. In fact the only carrier that is on the record supports neither.

So the question is why is the rush? If a year from now we find out that RSVP-TE is deployed every where in the optical layer, then no one can argue then. But it is premature to make a decision now.

At the mpls wg meeting today the issue of having two functionally
similar protocols for te and setting up expicit routes (rsvp-te and
cr-ldp), a discussion were initiated and it was decided that it shall
take place on the mpls wg mailing <mpls@uu-net>.

As separate message will be sent to the mpls list with further
background.
