MPLS is not like source routing. if you use LDP, it is very much like
IP routing. Also, source routing is true only if you use "explicit
routing".

Already years ago (in Oslo) I proposed to provide explicit routing for mp2p resp. p2mp LSPs.
By inserting "bracket"-TLVs between ER HOP-TLVs you can provide the info for a tree-like source route.
This tree-route may take into consideration QoS,policy, etc. You may even build several such LSPs
using different Explicit tree route information, as to get them differently routed - e.g. for supporting
traffic balancing.

Unfortunately, no one cared at that time.

Would there be interest now, to provide a, what I called, TREE ROUTE TLV e.g. for establishing mp2p LSPs
in support of VPN ?
