label distribution accros network boundaries-IP to ATM

Will we have a label distribution problem at the boundaries of IP core and ATM core networks if we have end-to-end label label distribution when you cross over from a IP-based MPLS network and an ATM-based MPLS network, since in IP network with routers as the LERs/LSRs, the label is distributed in a MPLS shim header that gets created to "frame" the IP packet. In ATM networks, the label is the VPI/VCI values in the regular ATM cell header.

What  problems can occur if we send a labelled packets across the boundry between a IP based and ATM based MPLS network.
