Note: If there is a piece of standards work that is needed, well defined and not part of any WG's charter, there is a shorter process: - Write it up as an internet-draft. - Talk about it in whatever fashion you like. - Get a friendly AD to sponsor it. - Do the 4-week IETF-wide Last Call. - You're done. Don't let the fact that it's an item too small to spin up a WG for block you from doing what's right. --On 21. juni 2001 11:53 -0700 Andrew Smith <ah_smith@pacbell.net> wrote: > If: > (a) none of the existing WGs want the work item > (b) there are willing and able people to do the work > (c) it doesn't overlap with other work > (d) it is a legitimate, missing piece of what seems to be a popular > (proposed) standard > > then find a friendly AD (doesn't seem to matter which Area), hold a BoF, > if anyone shows up for the BoF ask to form a WG and go from there.
