Sounds like this question would be better asked on a forum for Solaris
programming.  Perhaps comp.unix.programmer, comp.unix.solaris, or one of
the comp.sys.sun groups.

I am, unfortunately not familiar with Solaris, but I seem to remember
that a kernel patch was required to make router alert work on SunOS
version 4.x.  A similar patch may be required for Solaris.
