Why so many label distribution protocols ?

Hi,
I am new to MPLS. And was wondering why there should 
be so many protocols for label distribution. You
have lDP, CR-LDP, RSVP-TE, BGP-TE and OSPF-TE etc.

Also which of these protocols is more likely to be
used in future ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
