LDP vs RSVP ?

Having read the "Extensions to RSVP for traffic engineering" draft, I got
rather confused. It is not clear to me
what the role of RSVP is or might be in MPLS ?

1. Is RSVP proposed as a replacement to LDP in MPLS domain ? or
2. Is RSVP suggested to be used in parallel to LDP ? In other words LDP for
best-effort, RSVP for
traffic engineering and QoS reservations.
3. What about the RSVP-LDP interworking ? where RSVP is used in the access
triggered by hosts or routers and LDP in the core of the network, which for
me sounds much better idea ?

Any opinions on this subject ?

/Nail
